Youth project resources from Mary’s Meals

Mary’s Meals is a global movement of people playing their part in tackling world hunger using a simple idea. By setting up community-run school feeding programmes in some of the world’s poorest areas, Mary’s Meals helps to encourage children into the classroom – and gives them the energy to concentrate on lessons – so they can gain an education that will help them work towards a brighter future.

Mary’s Meals works in countries across Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Caribbean. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we are successfully feeding more than 2 million children every school day.

Little Acts, Big Difference

Little Acts, Big Difference is a youth programme – made up of six modules – that introduces the life-changing work of Mary’s Meals and invites you to become a part of this vibrant global family.

Through short films and stories, you’ll be transported to different countries and meet some of the amazing people who are working together to realise Mary’s Meals’ vision that every child receives one daily meal in their place of education.

You’ll also hear from some children who receive Mary’s Meals in school and see that, while they are often facing many obstacle, how their lives are being improved through community action and education.

Programme resources:

  • A teacher/youth leader guide, with six lesson plans;
  • Excerpts from ‘The Shed That Fed A Million Children’; and
  • Certificate to present to those who complete the programme.

Mary’s Meals Fundraising

Supporting Mary’s Meals in this way gives us the confidence to plan future expansions and to grow the global movement – safe in the knowledge that you are right there beside us as we strive to reach the next child.

The Story of Mary’s Meals continually grows thanks to the generosity of a community of supporters committed to regular donations. People who have chosen to play an active part in the change they want to see, people of hope, people like you.

Coin Collection

Volunteers all over Ireland have been busy collecting coins since the start of the year. Mary’s Meals take any type of coins, sterling old punts/old sterling, foreign coins and notes etc.

It is estimated that there is still more than €350 million unaccounted for Irish Punts since the switch to Euro, and our Mary’s Meals veteran, and superstar volunteer, Fr Eamonn Kelly, from Co. Donegal, has set himself the ambitious goal of collecting it all (or at least a large proportion of it), to support the children served with Mary’s Meals!

So far, this fundraising initiative has raised to enough to feed more than 2,730 children. Find out more…

Classroom or youth club videos

Invite people to watch the films on YouTube – these are the film used in the Little Act big Difference programme all around 30 mins in length.
